For some reason, Easter totally snuck up on me this year.
How is it already here? I swear I had a plan at one point, and then life just kept moving, and suddenly I’m ordering everything for the kids’ baskets on Amazon today and planning a grocery store run later for candy.
If you’re doing the same, you’re in good company.
We love Easter morning over here. The kids wake up so excited for the Easter bunny, we do a little egg hunt in the yard, and then we head to my parents’ house for brunch with family. It’s one of those slow, really special days that just feels full in the best way.
So I kept the baskets super simple this year. They’re 4 and 6, and honestly it doesn’t take much to make it feel magical.
Here’s what I ended up grabbing:
A few creative things I know they’ll actually sit with for a bit… I found those rainbow scratch paper pads and some fun markers, which always feel like a hit and give me a little quiet moment later in the day.
I added a couple small fun toys… a boomerang, that little Egg Toss chick game, and a few novelty-type things that just feel exciting to open.
I couldn’t resist a couple cute pieces… a little bunny plush and that smiling flower pot (my daughter loves flowers so this is perfect for her).
I also did a small bunny LEGO set and a small digital kids camera, which feels like something fun and new for them that I’m sure they’ll use all the time.
And then I added a few nostalgic, simple things… a digital pet bunny(Tamagotchi vibes throwback, so fun) and a couple little keychain-style toys.
Books are always part of our baskets. I grabbed a mix of Easter-themed ones and a couple they already love like Bluey. It just balances everything out and gives us something to wind down with later.
I shared some of our favorite Easter books in my last post too if you’re adding a few quiet, cozy pieces into your baskets or your weekend.
I’ll run to the store for candy… just the basics. Chocolate eggs, jelly beans, Peeps, Cadbury eggs (yuuuum) and a few things I know they’ll get excited about.
Just a mix of fun, cozy, creative, and a little bit of surprise.
Creating these kind of memories for my kids really matters to me. I still think about the holidays my parents put together for me, my sister, and my cousins. They weren’t over the top, but they felt so special.
That’s always the feeling I’m trying to recreate here.
Even if it’s coming together a little last minute this year 🤍
